When it comes to trimming this breed, it may be best left to a dog groomer. If you plan on showing your Bichon Frise, be sure to research what the judges are looking for in terms of grooming. For example, one of the major clubs want to see a natural looking, yet well trimmed dog. If you try to do it yourself, you may find that it is easy to over cut in an area. A good groomer will be able to control the hair removal. Grooming will need to be done professionally every 2-3 weeks. The fees for professional grooming will vary but expect to pay somewhere between $50-$75 for a nice hair cut. You many want to factor this into your budget when considering a Bichon Frise.

The Bichon Frise is considered to be one of the few hypoallergenic breeds. The fur on the dog is more like human hair. If you have allergies, this breed of dog may be a good fit for you.
