The Afghan Hound requires several walks a day and also he loves to run freely in a safe space. The Afghan Hound was breed to be a hunter. When he is outside you may find him chasing small animals, such as a squirrel or chipmunk. This breed really needs to run off his energy freely at least once a day.

It would be great to take him to a safe dog park. You may want to ask other dog owners of the reputation of your local dog park. You will want to ask questions to help you decide if it is a safe dog park for your dog. Your Afghan Hound will appreciate the occasional dog treat and he will certainly run off the extra calories if you allow him a little extra exercise time.
