The Labrador Retriever is a large dog with a weight that can range from 70-80 pounds. Many people are surprised at how quickly the labrador retriever will grow. These dogs are absolutely adorable as puppies... but... you need to know these cute and curious pups will grow very quickly. The height of the lab is approximately 22 - 25 inches from the shoulder. The lab will appear well proportioned and have almost a square build. The lab will be ever so slightly longer than it is tall.

The lab is part of the sporting dog group. The labrador makes a great sporting companion. These dogs were bred to help out the hunter to find and catch prey. This dog breed also enjoys the water which comes in handy for retrieving fowl.
